God Unchanging

Today’s reading: Psalm 96:1-102:28

My selection: Psalm 102:25–28

25 Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of your hands. 26 They will perish, but you will remain; They will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, 27 but you are the same, and your years have no end. 28 The children of your servants shall dwell secure; Their offspring shall be established before you.

My reflections:

Good news! God the Creator is unchanging and unchangeable. His works will perish, but He will not. He is eternal. He is perfect. Because He is perfect, He cannot become more perfect. Nor can He become less perfect. He never changes. His purposes, decrees, and promises endure forever.

The other good news for the believer is that God’s servants dwell secure. They will outlast even God’s creation. We err if we place our trust in the creation and not the Creator. We err if we do not understand that His works, majestic as they are, point to Him not to themselves.

My challenge:

Praise God for His eternal, perfect, unchangeable existence. Trust in Him, not in the world or the things of the world, although He has made them. Know that in Him you dwell secure, forever.

Tomorrow’s reading: Psalm 103:1-105:45
