Jesus, Our High Priest
Today’s reading: Hebrews 6:13-10:18
My selection: Hebrews 10:24
For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.
My reflections: The writer of Hebrews wanted his readers to know that Jesus is the High Priest of His people. Jesus Christ, as the High Priest to end all other priesthoods, offered Himself. His offering was made, not on earth in a mere human temple but, in heaven itself, literally before God Himself. His offering was sufficient forever. He continues before God on our behalf.
My challenge: How would your life and character be different if you thought often about Jesus’ ministry for you before the Father? Do you not need to take more joy and comfort in knowing He is before God on your behalf? Think about that.
Tomorrow’s reading: Hebrews 10:19-12:29
