The Incredible Power of Love
Our reading for today: Genesis 29:15-31:21
My selection: Genesis 29:20
20 So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.
When love exists no sacrifice is too great. When love exists time and hard labor are not an obstacle. Love overcomes anything.
As Paul wrote:
4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends. (I Corinthians 13:4-8).
My challenge: Are you in love? If so, does your love look like Jacob’s? Does your love look like that described by Paul? Biblical love, like God’s love, is not a mere feeling. It is active. If you love, serve patiently.
